How You Can Easily Find Blog Inspiration for Your Next Post
It was a cool Tuesday morning and I was casually going about my morning at home prepping for my business trip to Tennessee later that afternoon. I went through my normal routine and was at the airport 2 hours before my flight was scheduled to depart. I had time to eat a quick lunch, grab a drink, and head to the gate to meet my co-workers.
As we were waiting at the gate, news of a delay circulated. We were going to be an hour late due to the dreaded term – “mechanical issues”. Nobody wants to hear that before flying. So, we waited. The second worst thing you can hear when flying then came over the loudspeaker. “The flight has been canceled. Please walk over to the customer service counter to make accommodations”. Ugh.
I was somewhat lucky in that I was able to get on a flight later that afternoon. Unfortunately, it was much later in the afternoon so I was lucky enough to spend the next 5 hours in the airport lounge listening to Madonna repeatedly urge me to “Get Into the Groove”.
It’s times like these that you can turn a bad situation into a productive one. Instead of getting hammered at the airport bar (which I thought about) you can sit down, plug in, and knock out some of your planned blog posts.
Here are 8 other strange places where you can find blog inspiration for your next post.

Besides declining a never-ending supply of services you seem to be well overdue in getting performed, why not use the time to think of some ideas for your blog?
2. In the dentist’s chair
Sure, your mouth is wide open and drool is constantly being vacuumed from your face but this is actually a good spot to “think outside the box” and generate some fresh ideas for your blog.
3. At a theme park…or Walmart
Is there much difference between a theme park and Walmart? Not really. A stroll through either one will invite all sorts of feelings and thoughts. Channel the good ones and watch the blog post ideas spring to life.
4. While driving
Yes, you need to pay attention to the road but this is a great time to spend a few minutes of alone time gathering thoughts for your blog. If your kids are in the car, all bets are off.
5. At your kid’s sporting event
Speaking of kids, their sporting events tend to take a long time. Like, a really long time. Start to use time between innings, between races, or between any semblance of action that your kid is involved in and think of some new topics.
6. At a family gathering
What typically happens at a family gathering? Drama! Yes, see how the latest insanity in your family might lend itself to a solid blog post. Pay attention to the conversations and topics. Maybe there is a way you can leverage it for your own good.
7. While walking your dog
Sure, you’re walking around carrying a bag of poop. But that shouldn’t stop your creative juices from flowing. While you try to guide Fido, let your mind drift a bit and see if the scenes around you can serve as inspiration.
8. Going to the bathroom
Oh, come on. Don’t act like you don’t do things like this. Strangely, this can be some of your most productive time!
