How Can I Make My Blog Popular With So Much Competition?
There are well over 150 million blogs in existence today. That’s one helluva crowded market.
The good news is there are ways to separate yourself from the rest of the crowd beyond simply being in a micro-niche.
If you find yourself in a ultra-competitive market, you have to find ways to rise above all of the noise and to get noticed.
Let’s see how it is possible.
Did you See the Jimmy Fallon and Adele Video?
A few days ago, the Tonight Show published a video with Jimmy Fallon, the Roots, and Adele performing her new hit song, “Hello”.
At a glance, you would probably say, “so what?”
And in most cases you would be right.
But, it wasn’t simply a video of Adele singing the song with the Roots and Jimmy watching.
They decided to take it to another level. They performed the song with the assistance of classroom instruments.
Genius.

What does This Mean for My Blog?
Why do I consider this genius?
Jimmy Fallon could’ve easily done the standard – have Adele sing with the Roots playing behind her as he tapped a pencil on his desk watching from the side.
But, he decided to go further.
He could’ve joined her onstage in a comedic way and people might have laughed a little bit.
But, he decided to go further.
He could’ve picked up a guitar or sat at the drums and played along with her and people would have been entertained.
But, he decided to go further.
He decided to use classroom instruments and film it like it was a bunch of friends hanging out recording themselves. People laughed a lot…and shared it like crazy.
He not only provided a unique angle to what he wanted to present but went in a direction no one expected. That is the huge differentiator.
What he did made people want to talk about it.
“Did you see that Jimmy Fallon and Adele video?”
“Yes, it was sooooo good!”
“No, what is it all about? Where is it!”
That is the kind of reaction you want with your content.
When it comes to your blog, you need to start to think of new ways to present even the most mundane information.
The Jimmy Fallon and Adele video should thoroughly reinforce the fact that you need to be creative and unique with your message.
You can’t simply do what everyone else is doing within your market. If you do, you will fade into the mire of the existing noise.
You need to think of different angles to your content that will separate you from the herd.
You have to look at unique ways of delivering your message.
Find Unique Ways to Elevate Your Message
As an example. I recently published a blog post where I imagined the presidential candidates as bloggers. It was a fun piece to write and was meant to be entertaining.
Yet at the same time I wanted you to draw similarities to your own blog.
I could’ve chosen something boring and ordinary to explain things you might not want to do with your blog. Maybe another list post, right?
But I wanted to go in a creative direction that would make people take notice and think differently.
And it worked. I received a ton of engagement and people genuinely enjoyed the content.
How You Can Use a Similar Strategy for Your Blog
Being unique isn’t really a choice in today’s online world. It’s necessary for survival.
Start to implement strategies that will begin to differentiate you from your fellow bloggers.
See if there are ways where you can take your next post and think of a completely different way to present the information.
Imagine unique ways to display the information on your website.
Think of rare giveaways to grow your list.
Consider unusual videos or graphics that will catch people by surprise.
Brainstorm different ideas that may be similar…or completely unrelated.
Let your creativity embrace newfound freedom.
Put it down on paper and see where it might take you. No matter how ridiculous it seems at the time.
Once you find something different, see if you can take it even further.
Thinking one step beyond what is expected will take you to new heights with your blog. Taking it two or more steps beyond pushes you toward legendary status.
In the 3 days since the video was posted on YouTube it has been watched over 10 million times. Incredible.
